Understanding Your Wiley Phone Number
Every Wiley account gets its own real phone number that works just like a traditional home phone number. Here's what you need to know.
Quick Summary
- Your Wiley phone number is a real US phone number — anyone can call it from any phone.
- The number is assigned during account setup based on your area code.
- Caller ID shows your name and number to people you call.
- 911 works from your Wiley number just like a regular phone.
How Your Number is Assigned
During account setup, we assign a phone number with a local area code based on your physical address. This means your Wiley phone will have a number that looks local to your area.
Caller ID
When you call someone from your Wiley phone, they'll see your Wiley phone number on their caller ID. Your registered name (set during account setup) appears as the caller name.
You can see what your current caller ID settings are in the Settings page of the parent portal.
Receiving Calls
Anyone with your Wiley phone number can call you — as long as they're on your allowlist. Calls from numbers not on your allowlist are automatically blocked.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I choose my phone number? Phone numbers are automatically assigned based on your area code. Custom number selection is not currently available.
Q: Can I port (transfer) an existing number to Wiley? Number porting may be available. Contact support for details on porting an existing phone number to your Wiley account.
Q: Is my number a VoIP number? Yes, technically. However, it works identically to a traditional phone number for all practical purposes — you can call and receive calls from any phone, and 911 works normally.
