Wiley Home Phone Service
What phone numbers can I call? Any number — landlines, cell phones, take-out, whatever. By default all calls are allowed. You can toggle Approved-Only calling in the Parent Portal.
Can I call Tin Can or other home phone numbers? Yes. Just make sure you're on the other family's Approved Calling List if they use Tin Can.
What's the difference between Wiley & other internet based home phones? Wiley is designed specifically for kids of all ages. Key differences: Tin Can locks you into approved-contacts-only with no off switch — Wiley lets you toggle that mode. Ooma doesn't offer WiFi-based phones. Wiley works for kids as young as 3–4 and scales up through teens and adults.
What if my home loses power or WiFi, can Wiley still make calls? No — it requires power and internet. On average US homes experience ~7 hrs/year of power outages and ~9 hrs/year of WiFi outages (99.9% uptime). Backup options like generators, Starlink, or cellular hotspots can help.
Is there a monthly fee? Yes. First month is free, no contracts. USA: $9.95/mo, Canada: $13.95/mo (+ taxes & fees). Includes unlimited nationwide calling, Enhanced 911, spam blocking, parental controls, voicemail, quiet hours, caller ID, and more.
Can I call 911? Yes. Wiley includes Enhanced 911 (address assigned to your number so first responders know where to go) and instant emergency alerts to you and a neighbor when 911 is dialed.
Does Wiley Home Phone service have contracts? No contracts.
Can I have multiple Wiley phones in my home? Yes, unlimited phones under one account sharing the same number. First phone included in base plan; each additional phone is $3.50/mo. All phones ring together and share the same voicemail inbox.
Can I bring my own phone & use Wiley Home Phone service? Yes. They'll send you a component to connect your own analog or digital phone to your router. Note: other VoIP phones are not compatible.
Can you do 3-way calls? Yes, up to 3 people can join any call.
Does Wiley work with Starlink or cellular internet like Verizon Fios? Yes. Requires an Ethernet port for initial setup. Starlink users without the Ethernet add-on can contact hello@wileyphone.com to have WiFi pre-configured on the phone.
Can I keep my existing number? Yes, number porting is available for a small one-time fee. Don't cancel your current service until the port is complete.
One month free service — what's the catch? No catch. All preorders get 1 month free, then pay monthly with no contracts.
Do I need a promo code for the first free month? No, it's automatically included.
Can I make international calls? Not yet. It's on the roadmap but no timeline confirmed.
Home Phone Devices
Can I use Ethernet instead of WiFi? Yes. All devices have Ethernet compatibility. Wiley Buddy and Wiley Classic also have WiFi.
Does the phone have to be connected to your internet router in order to be used? Our Wiley Buddy phones are designed to be used over WiFi (but can be used via Ethernet on internet router as well). For the initial setup by default they need to connect to your home internet router via Ethernet one time just to pair to your account & draw in your WiFi credentials. Once paired to you, you can disconnect the phone from your Ethernet port and plug in the phone anywhere within range of your WiFi.
Do I need a telephone line? No. Service runs entirely over your home internet.
Is it a real phone? Yes — not an app. You pick up the handset and call.
Wall mountable? Yes, both phones can mount to a wall.
Shipping
When will my order ship? As quickly as possible. During peak periods, up to 7 working days from estimated ship date. You'll get a tracking email once shipped.
Do you ship worldwide? USA only at this time.
How much is shipping? Calculated at checkout based on your address and selected service.
Why haven't I received my order? If tracking shows delivered but you haven't received it, check with your carrier or contact hello@wileyphone.com.
Payment
What payment methods do you accept? Major credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and other options may appear at checkout.
Is my payment secure? Yes. All transactions are secured and encrypted. Payment info is not stored.
Returns
Can I return my order? Yes, within 45 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition, in the Wiley box with all equipment included. Use their self-serve Return Portal.
Can I exchange for a different phone? Exchanges for the same item can be done through the Returns Portal.
Is there a return fee? No, return shipping is free.
I received a damaged or wrong item — what now? Contact hello@wileyphone.com with your order number and a photo of the issue.
